Lisa Schalk: National Women's History Month Spotlight

In honor of National Women's History Month, we're highlighting female entrepreneurs and trailblazers who inspire us. Today’s positive inspiration is none other than Lisa Schalk!

As the Co-Owner of Tampa’s famous Toffee to Go, Lisa is on a mission to make the world a little sweeter. The company’s rich, buttery, all-natural toffee is locally handmade to perfection. But don’t think this story is limited to the Tampa Bay Area. Toffee to Go has been honored as “Best Chocolates,” “Best Candies,” and “Best Desserts” and earned favored status from the editors of Fancy Food Magazine, celebrity wedding and event planner Colin Cowie, and O Magazine as one of Oprah’s 2013 Favorite Things. With this national reputation for award-winning sweets, it’s easy to see why everyone loves getting a box of this delectable treat.

Incredibly, after all of this initial success, the Schalks decided to expand by opening The Dessert Spot inside Toffee to Go. Locals can now relax and enjoy the dessert life (doesn’t that sound fabulous?!) with all types of mouth-watering sweets.

While Lisa is certainly a bright light in Toffee to Go’s ever-expanding universe, what makes her truly remarkable is her constant willingness to lend a hand and encourage other entrepreneurs like Spread Your Sunshine. She made sure to meet with us one-on-one to prepare us for our first tradeshow, was one of the first visitors to our booth, and constantly checks-in to see how everything is going in our world. Her hard work, success and compassion for others is an inspiration to us every day.

For all of these reasons and so many more, we couldn’t let Women’s History Month pass without inspiring the Spread Your Sunshine community by sharing Lisa’s story. Keep shining brightly, Lisa, you’re truly amazing!!
