Critical Moment to Build a Better Future: Spread Your Sunshine Racial Inequality Webinar & 83 Degrees Article

While millions of people march across our country against racial inequality, Spread Your Sunshine wants to do its part to further the conversation about systemic racism and take action against it. As a part of our efforts, this Wednesday, June 10th, beginning at 4:00 PM EST, we are hosting a complimentary one-hour webinar featuring Executive Pastor of Crossover Church, Host of The Wise Idea Podcast, and author of The Temporary Assignment, Christopher J. Harris, and former State Representative and former Chairman of the Florida Legislative Black Caucus, The Honorable Edwin "Ed" Narain. Christopher and Ed will lead our community in a discussion about systemic racism, how to talk about it, and how to lean in to change it. Click here to register for this important conversation.

We want to spread this message to as many people as we can, so please share this webinar opportunity with family members and friends. And, have questions that you want Christopher and Ed to answer on Wednesday? Send them in advance by emailing melanie@spreadyoursunshine.com or messaging Spread Your Sunshine on FacebookInstagramLinkedIn, or Twitter so we can ensure they are answered.

In the meantime, one of the ways we can help end systemic racism is to talk about it with children and correctly educate the next generation. For families searching for insight about how to teach children the truth about racism, strategies for keeping safe, and standing up against racial inequality, This is a Critical Moment to Help Build a Better Future authored by Lisa Martin, Ph.D., Licensed Clinical Psychologist, and published by 83 Degrees Media is a must read.

In addition to the insight offered by Dr. Martin, this past weekend, CNN and Sesame Street partnered to host a 60-minute special Town Hall for kids and families, "Coming Together: Standing Up to Racism." The Town Hall was a great opportunity to talk to children about racism, the recent nationwide protests, and how to embrace diversity and be more empathetic and understanding. If you missed the live airing or want to watch it again, the entire recording is available here

And, do you have additional resources to help the SYS community?! We’re sure you do and want to further our efforts against systemic racism beyond this week's Webinar and the resources included in our previously published Blog post, The Fight Against Racial Inequality Persists. Please share your advice by emailing melanie@spreadyoursunshine.com or messaging Spread Your Sunshine on FacebookInstagramLinkedIn or Twitter.
